Romberg
I get this feeling Amya, that we don’t have any time.
Amya
Your feeling could be correct. We do not know how fast they'll move.
Romberg
It’s odd though.
Amya
What is?
He sat in his chair.
Romberg
I got this position, based on hope. Hope that I could change this world. Now I just think I didn’t really change anything.
Amya
Please Nicholas, do not belittle your accomplishments. The powers upon you are nothing any normal human could comprehend.
Romberg
Everything just seems so lost now.
Amya
The lost can always be found, my friend. You will be moved onto a secret base where things will be a little less complicated.
He put his hands on his face.
Romberg
The days will get black from now on. Hands won’t even be visible in front of their master’s face.
Amya
With the darkest night, comes the brightest day.
Romberg
When the day does come, when we see a brighter day,
He looked her straight in the eyes.
Romberg
Just how bright will that day be?
Amya
I do not know.
Arkain fell to his knees and began to weep. Hayden walked into the cube.
Hayden
Arkain, your mother isn’t missing.
He looked up at Hayden, eyes of helplessness.
Arkain
Dead?
He looked back down.
Arkain
This can’t be happening. This is to much, how can this happen! It’s only been a day, not even, just hours. Mom, mom, this can’t be. This is a joke, right?
He looked to Hayden, then Gemma.
Arkain
What the fuck please, please wake me up from this nightmare. They didn’t want this. They just wanted to live a normal life. If there is a God, why them? Why mom?
He was looking at the ceiling.
Arkain
Is this a part of your fucking plan?
Gemma got down next to him and wrapped her arms around him.
Arkain
This is my fault. I will get the people who did this to them. So help me God, in your name I will kill them.He stopped talking for a minute.
Arkain
Mom, I love you.
It was silent as Arkain silently wept.
Gemma
I’m sorry.
Arkain
Don’t be, it’s my fault.
Hayden
You are not at fault Arkain. It is out of your hands. You cannot control the fate of others.
Arkain stood up.
Arkain
I need to go.
Hayden
Arkain, please reconsider. They want you to act like this. They want you to go to them. It is all a part of their plan.
Arkain
I don’t fucking care!
Fallen
Arkain please understand.
Fallen appeared from the wall.
Arkain
Understand? She died because of us, all of them, because of me! I should have never of came here or dreamed of anything more than a life of ordinary! Then no one would have died! I would be at home and my mom would be happy.
Fallen
You have done nothing wrong. You must understand people will die in this war. Good, bad, guilty, and innocent. That is what we are sacrificing in order to clear the cloud of darkness that will cover these lands! We stand on one side and them on the other with the human race between us. Some will fall in the crossfire, you must accept this.
Arkain
What makes us any different? They kill, and we allow it to happen, with a weak ass justification! Sacrifices? No, I call it being cowards! Allowing people to die for our own agenda!
Hayden
Cowards? Arkain, we can’t save everyone. This agenda you say we are cowardly enough to let people die for is not only for us, it is for the prosperity of the human race.
Gemma
Calm down Arkain, you can’t go to them. Do you want to die?
Arkain
My mom didn’t want to die!
Arkain was turned towards everyone. His face was wet from crying. Suri walked in.
Suri
I don’t think anyone does.
He turned to her, surprised by her arrival.
Suri
I know what you’re thinking, how would she know, and honestly I don’t, but I don’t need to fall off a cliff to know it would hurt. Can’t you see, this is them striking at your heart, your knees! Are you simply going to allow yourself to fall like this?
Arkain
But it’s not that easy!
Fallen
No one said it would be easy; nothing forward from this will be easy. Our goal isn’t easy so neither are the sacrifices. No matter what we must accomplish what has begun. You must endure Arkain, and we will conquer. You can’t be strong if you would go seeking a killer stronger then you are at the moment. Can’t you at least be happy that your mom died for something important?
Arkain
And what is that?
Hayden
The greater good.
Arkain
I can’t even think straight.
Hayden
The decision is yours Arkain. We will not hold you against your will.

I agree with Jose. Ahaha But great chapter as always.
ReplyDeleteThis comment makes
no sense.
Hahahaha
It is pretty sad how Gemma
ReplyDeletecould not tell him rite then
and there. i know it would suck
but he made a promise to kill who
ever did this. which Gemma had one part of
it.
it sucks what happened to Arkain's mom.i can almost feel his pain.
ReplyDeleteAww this one is heartbreaking. Any story where the mother dies gets to me, just because I cannot imagine my life without my mother.
ReplyDeleteSuri's line " i don't need to all off a cliff to know it would hurt"...totally sums up the human ability and desire to empathize. I mght steal it once in awhile. (:
i understand how arkain just wants to rip the guts out of whoever killed his mother. too bad it's gemma. ahhh. the intense action's coming. i remember. i think... xP
ReplyDeleteWhy did Hayden interrupted? Gemma is nearly gonna tell him! HAHA,.
ReplyDeleteArkain kinda reminds me of Naruto in the sense that he acts first then asks questions. Im liking the way Arkains character is developing.
ReplyDeleteIm kind of scared to see what happens when he finds out that its Gemma's fault. I still really like how he questions them.
ReplyDeleteI understand their point of view.
ReplyDeleteThey want arkain to pretty much move on and be strong but come on!! he had just found out..
give the boy a break..
I like Amya..she's very optimistic!
:D
Really really want to know how these promises of Arkain's are going to play out in the future! :)
ReplyDeleteWill he kill her?
ReplyDeleteI'm in suspense.
Sad sad sad.
ReplyDeleteseriously. these interactions between amya and nicholas are really good. for some reason they seem so visual to me.
ReplyDeleteThese are such beautiful lines, "Even in the darkest times, the tiniest light will shine through. With the darkest night, comes the brightest day" <3 I think this is very true to life because hope is what keeps someone together even when everything else is falling apart. You have such a great perspective on things like this. It is very impressive and it makes the characters feel even more real because of how well you convey such powerful emotions. I feel so bad for Arkain, but I hope he stays and tries to fight for the greater good, rather than going out on his own and winding up in trouble!
ReplyDeletethis is so philosophical!!
ReplyDeleteEven in the darkest times, the tiniest light will shine through. With the darkest night, comes the brightest day...ahh love this so so much..
ReplyDeleteBut i cant imagine what Arkains going thru..my moms all i have i dont think ill survive without her...so sad..
I find it comical that gemma hasn't told him yet.and he wants to kill her already without knowing it
ReplyDeleteoh boy, this is intense. i love all the philosophical aspects .
ReplyDeletewtf is gemma gonna do now??
ReplyDeletei wish she would of told arkain before
he saw that t.v!!! oh well, now i gotta wait
and see whats gonna happen with him and her!
i like this chapter because it shows
how pasionate arkain is knowing the death of his mother. its sad to lose someone u love :(
the plot thickens hahaha
ReplyDeletethe greater good complex reminds of Charmed! which is my favorite tv show! hahaha are the charmed ones gonna cameo lol jk
really good chaoter, very strong
ahh it drives me crazy him not knowing it was gemma
ReplyDeleteeveryone is annoying me
its gemma
why cant she just tell him
its not fair to him that they are leading him to believe it was others
i can't wait till he learns the truth behind it all
but this chapter is great
but it drives me crazy all the same
Once again, I enjoyed the scene with the president and his advisor.
ReplyDeleteI like the tension that is created with Gemma's secret. Arkain feels an allegiance for the white coats without having been a part of them for very long.
ReplyDeletethis chapter was intense. im a little lost with characters, im like really wishing this was with drawings already! xP im just really shocked arkain didnt react a bit more dramatically towards gemma..
ReplyDeletei guess thats just a reflection on arkains personality and the situation at hand.
Great chapter.
ReplyDeleteI can't stop reading it!
I'm so into it man :D
THIS IS AWESOME!
This is sort of a chapter to fill you in on how everything is unfolding for Arkain so I don't find it extremely exciting. But that aside, it is still very well written and will continue on with my comments as I read this amazing story.
ReplyDeletePoor Arkain. He needs to stop being a dumb bitch and stay inside the fortress thing he is in! This was a heartfelt chapter. It's terrible what happened to Arkain's mama, but it will be his vengeance that drives him to fight.

ReplyDeleteIt's great how passionate he is. :\ I feel so bad for him but I'm sure he needs to face things now with what's to come...whatever that may be. I wonder if he'll be talked out of it or if everyone will go with him. xD
ReplyDeleteyup... still love suri, and
ReplyDeletei can relate to gemma, a lot
im not schizophrenic, but i definitely have another side that is really harmful to those around if it were to be released, but in my years i have learned to not let him be shown, (for the most part)
hope you dont think im odd for saying that
Okay so I don't know if I like Amya yet, is she there to keep tabs on the president or is she genuinely a good person? hmmmmmmm she has some good insight and advice tho!
ReplyDeleteI hope Arkain can keep it together! oh man I wonder what he would of done if he had known the person responsible for killing his mom was in the same room!
More and more keeps being placed on Arkain's plate. How is he supposed to deal with knowing that his mother and step-father are dead and have to courage to stay where he is located without fully knowing what is truly going on. He thinks this is all a dream and that there are no consequences, however, he is mistaken.
ReplyDeleteI believe this chapter works as a platform for Arkain to make the choice for the greater good or for selfish reasons, I think I know what his choice will be, but one cannot not wonder, what if he chooses selfishness?
